REWARDS AND BENEFITS
Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar on the first $50,000 of eligible purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar. American Express says eligible Amex Travel purchases also earn 2X and do not count toward the $50,000 cap. Points may be redeemed in several ways or transferred to participating airline and hotel loyalty programs under program rules. The card also includes expense-management features and purchase protection subject to terms. Amex lists a 2.7% foreign-transaction fee.
WHO IT MAY SUIT
Consider it if you run an eligible small business and want a no-fee, uncategorized way to earn Membership Rewards on ordinary business expenses. It can complement other Membership Rewards cards for travelers who understand partner programs and can use transfer awards.
TRADEOFFS
The 2X rate stops after $50,000 of eligible purchases each calendar year. This is a business card: approval and eligibility depend on issuer requirements, and personal liability may apply. The 2.7% foreign transaction fee can erase rewards on international purchases. Points transfers can offer value but require research and are generally irreversible; compare award prices before transferring.
