CARD REVIEWS | Last reviewed October 22, 2026
This page compares annual fees, rewards, key perks, fit, and tradeoffs. Terms and referral offers can change; check the issuer’s live application page before applying. General information only, not personalized financial advice. Rewards rarely justify spending more or carrying a balance.
REFERRAL DISCLOSURE
Some links on this page are referral links. If you apply and are approved, I may receive a reward; you pay no extra because of the referral. Offers, eligibility, and terms can change. Confirm the exact card and offer before applying.
TRAVEL POINTS
Chase Sapphire Preferred® | $95 annual fee
Earn 5 points per dollar through Chase Travel; 3 points on dining, select streaming, online grocery (exclusions apply), gas, EV charging, and eligible vacation-home brands; 2 points on other travel; and 1 point elsewhere. Points can transfer to participating travel partners. Key extras include a $100 annual Chase Travel hotel credit and up to $120 toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS every four years, plus eligible travel protections. Best fit: someone seeking transferable points without a premium annual fee. Tradeoff: the hotel credit requires a qualifying Chase Travel booking, and other benefits have terms.
Chase Sapphire Reserve® | $795 annual fee; authorized users $195 each
Earn 8 points per dollar through Chase Travel, 4 points on direct-booked flights and hotels, 3 points on worldwide dining, and 1 point elsewhere. Benefits include up to $300 in annual travel credits, airport lounge access, travel protections, and travel and lifestyle perks; points transfer to participating travel partners. Best fit: frequent travelers who will use the benefits. Tradeoff: the high fee is worthwhile only when the benefits you personally use offset enough of it; check enrollment, merchant, and booking rules.
Chase Freedom Unlimited® | $0 annual fee
Earn 5% on Chase Travel, 3% on dining and drugstores, and 1.5% on other eligible purchases. Cash back does not expire while the account is open. With an eligible Sapphire or Ink Preferred account, points may be combined for partner transfers under Chase rules. Best fit: no-fee everyday earning, especially paired with a transferable-points card. Tradeoff: most purchases earn 1.5%; check current foreign-transaction terms before using abroad.
Chase Freedom Flex® | $0 annual fee
Earn 5% on up to $1,500 in combined purchases each quarter in rotating categories after activation, 5% on Chase Travel, 3% on dining and drugstores, and 1% elsewhere. Chase currently lists no foreign transaction fee. Best fit: someone who will activate categories and track the quarterly cap. Tradeoff: categories change and require activation; confirm which Freedom card the referral offer presents.
CASH BACK
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express | $0 first year, then $95 annual fee
Earn 6% at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per calendar year (then 1%), 6% on eligible U.S. streaming, 3% at U.S. gas stations and on transit, and 1% elsewhere. Enrolled cardmembers may receive up to $10 monthly in Disney streaming credits, subject to terms. Best fit: households with eligible grocery and streaming spend. Tradeoff: the supermarket cap applies; warehouse clubs and superstores generally don’t count. The Disney credit requires enrollment. Reward Dollars are cash back, not transferable points.
Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express | $0 annual fee
Earn 3% at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, and on U.S. online retail purchases, each up to $6,000 per calendar year (then 1%); other purchases earn 1%. Enrollment may provide up to $7 monthly in Disney streaming credits, subject to terms. Best fit: no-fee cash back across groceries, gas, and online retail. Tradeoff: each category has a cap; eligible online retail depends on how a merchant processes the purchase. Reward Dollars are not transferable travel points.
TRANSFERABLE MEMBERSHIP REWARDS
Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express | $0 annual fee
Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar on the first $50,000 in eligible purchases each calendar year, then 1 point per dollar. Points can transfer to participating airline and hotel programs subject to program rules; business tools and purchase protection are also available under terms. Best fit: an eligible small-business owner seeking simple, uncategorized points earning. Tradeoff: this is a business card with a 2.7% foreign-transaction fee; point-transfer value takes research and statement-credit value can be lower.
HOW TO EVALUATE VALUE
Estimate rewards from your regular spending, subtract the annual fee, and count a credit only if you would use it anyway. Compare cash and points prices before transferring; transfers are often irreversible, and award availability can change. Never spend extra or carry debt just to earn rewards.
